Day 23 - Jackson Hole and Bar T 5 Chuckwagon Supper

Wednesday, July 5, 2023

Idaho ➡️ Wyoming (πŸ”„)

This day was riding with UTV's as the Tetons, rock formations, wildflowers all added an endless supply of views to enjoy and inhale the rest they offer.  We won't go into detail of the gasps and moments of feeling out-of-control scenarios as we rode through creek waters and bounced along the off roading trails.  One creek was a bit sketchy and the other a definite no-go.  We may or may not have known where we were?!?  We originally thought we would do a bit of hiking in the Tetons while we were out and about, but these machines were not allowed on any national or state grounds.

And then we race off to make it just in time for our evening Chuckwagon supper by Bar T 5 Ranch.  It involved a covered wagon ride to the place of our supper which was DELISH!!
The menu 🍽
🍽 roast beef and gravy, pork tips, salad, baked beans, corn, dinner roll and a brownie for dessert.  (I'm still drooling over those baked beans! πŸ˜‹)

They briefly enacted how it was for Wilson as he crossed the mountain pass those many years ago.  The bandits and being robbed and even facing gunpoint.  They didn't do all that but they did ride beside us, shouting the part.  It really makes you stop and think how it was for those settlers moving west so long ago.

And the setting moon as night gives way to light.

And we head out for the adventures of the day.

Wyoming

such excitement!

stopping for a bathroom break and a look at the map, explaining a bit where we plan to go

expending energy as we wait

Endless supply of gorgeous views as we ride.

Lunch time... we were hungry!

Bag tight with altitude pressure

Carlin gets a turn to drive, so Titus and Levi went with him and Michael.

So our drivers are now Derek and Sheldon

The creek we crossed several times (that had me a bit freaked out because the water was rushing and it was a bit sketchy).  But really, for a man, all the water did was add to their adrenaline and adventurous spirit!!

this is a bit cattywampus...
but it does mark the sign that confirms we are finally on the right path and on our way back

Oh these dirty faces!!
It was quite dusty and it shows!!

hand motions signaling we are turning

Jackson Hole ski slope

As Sheldon would say, driving through town was a bit freaky.  It was easy to get separated and then not know where to go.

Chuckwagon Supper

He is giving the history behind this place and why they do the suppers.

Rick and Rocky

portraying the bandits that would appear on the trail

Levi chosen to 'volunteer'

... to ring the dinnerbell

He and his posse were then to lead the way for dinner.

Absolutely delish!!

We ended with a walk in downtown Jackson Hole and shopping for souvenirs.

Serene
A drive back 'home' with the glow of the setting sun.

Another day has ended and another day of safety.  So, so grateful.
