Idaho ➡️ Montana ➡️ Wyoming
Today we leave the spot we called 'home' for three days. Three days of breathtaking beauty right here. We took a few family pictures before leaving, only to discover later that one body was present but is unseen.
We didn't have time for the Prismatic Spring yesterday, so we did a 'quick through' in Yellowstone to see the Prismatic Spring and the Mammoth Spring before heading to Cody, Wyoming. It felt rushed but it was so worth taking the time to see the Prismatic Spring.
On our drive out of the park we saw herds and herds of buffalo, witnessing two fight off in the distance. We saw antelope or pronghorns grazing and chasing each other. We also saw our third black bear, although we could only catch a glimpse of it as it ran through the brush. Earlier we saw one as it walked in and among the trees, again only catching a glimpse.
When we arrived in Cody, we stopped at Bubba's for our supper. Since we couldn't get our BBQ last night, and you can't be in the west and not have a BBQ meal! So we planned to have such a meal tonight and Bubba's did not disappoint. What deliciousness and oh my, that salad bar! Salad tasted oh so good after weeks of having limited vegetables.
Then on to watch a rodeo which really was more of a comedy show! 🤨😆🤷♀️
Present but not visible - Sheldon Lapp 🤨🙈😃
Picture taking quota is filled! 😆
Time to move on!
the way of the west... we stop for all things crossing
back in Yellowstone
What a beautiful and intriguing spring! So glad we took the time to see it. Although next time I hope we can do the overlook for an even better view of the spring.
friends to share the experience with
And other springs in the Geyser Basin...
400 gallons a minute keeps rushing into the creek waters
Keeping on going towards Mammoth Springs
Mammoth Spring
A very quick stop before going on to Cody, WY.
Love the white!
And when we were done, we all, minus Titus, needed to pile in Levi's vehicle because the only place Titus found to park with the camper was way down by the visitor center. 😀
Hiding again, Sheldon??!!🫣😀
Shall we just keep rolling on to Cody??!!
Down at the visitor center and shop area, elk are a common grazer. And the police stand nearby, protecting human admirers and keeping all things at bay.
As we continued driving through Yellowstone we saw antelope or pronghorns chasing each other and others standing so picturesque. We also saw hundreds and hundreds of buffalo in different herds. One herd I quickly counted up to 120 bison or buffalo.
Then the open wide space where the buffalo roam wild!
fighting
I kept this picture because ... how many times did a tree or sign photo bomb my picture as we drove along... 🤣
We drove through quite a bit of rain, but by the time we got to Cody it quit.
Cattle roaming free
Oh those evermore hairpin curves and switchbacks we did on this overall trip. These yellow arrows capture it quite well.
A must-have meal before we leave Montana ... BBQ! We enjoyed our meal at Bubba's. The salad was just what the doctor ordered! 🥰
Then the rodeo
Our evening stay
