Day 22 - Travelling Vibes

 Tuesday, July 4, 2023

Montana ➡️ Idaho

Today was traveling to the Tetons and Yellowstone and here we had scheduled to meet Levis and spend a few days together. We stayed in Tetonia, Idaho, close to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Our Air B&B was a nice setup for us to park our camper and Levi's had the house for their sleeping arrangements. The boys enjoyed the sauna and hot tub.  We enjoyed an evening of relaxing, grilling for our supper, having a campfire and popcorn and s'mores.  The wrap-around porch was a wonderful spot to enjoy the view of the Tetons. And then two action filled days followed, leaving us with memories.

This view ๐Ÿ˜

Part of travelling is learning.  Learning of other places and things.  Places and things that are new to me and broaden my scope of understanding. Like this.
What is this stack that is in the middle of the land?  In this day and age, one takes a picture, and then uses google lens to discover.
We learned that this is the ANACONDA SMELTER STACK.
๐ŸŒIt's the tallest surviving masonry structure in the world.
๐ŸŒOverall height is 585; including a brick chimney 555' tall and downhill side of a concrete foundation that is 30'.
๐ŸŒIt is a brick smoke stack or chimney, built in 1918 as part of the Washoe Smelter of the Anaconda Copper Mining Company at Anaconda Montana.
๐ŸŒThe inside diameter at the bottom of the brick chimney is 76' while at the top it is 60'.
๐ŸŒThe stack and its viewing are now the two-part Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park.

We also learn of Montana's rolling hill landscape

and of it's much hay farming

then there's lilacs right beside where are eating lunch

and red and green leaves on the same tree

Montana also has rock hills

and once again we see snow laced mountains - the Tetons

On we go...

and see landscape variations in one

A few things we saw in Montana, a bald eagle sitting on top of an electric pole, a muledeer, antelope, and elk grazing.

irrigation was a usual sight and fun to see

this. became a staple for travelling...  cameras to see behind and around us.
We were very grateful for the one in the back.

these mountains!

and of course with travelling... destinations were always our aim and always grateful to have arrived safely!

You have arrived.
Yes, we did.

setup takes all of us and it flowed quite smoothly... Our usual time was approx. 15 min.

Levi's were in the cabin and we in our camper.

bumping volleyball

grilling for supper... chicken

... pork chops and steaks

consuming the fare

Very fitting, as the next two days were filled with just that... adventure waiting to be filled and to become treasured memories.  And they were.  You know, it doesn't always turn out the way we want it to and we are grateful we were left with good memories.
(This was in the front foyer of the house.)

relaxing with Duck Dynasty

posing with the gorgeous backdrop of the Tetons

and the endless view

volleyball

and fires

chatting

and hot drinks, this is tea of course!

popcorn

and the setting sun adding its splendour to the view that is ever present

oh, and then there's watching a mosquito fill up in hopes to witness it get too full... but alas, it was able to pull out and fly away.

this sun.  was a red ball.  and this picture could not capture the incredible splendour of it.

time to enjoy the treat of popcorn along with s'mores

This and the sauna were very much enjoyed!

We watched fireworks from afar.  The valley was a flat space and we could see several places that were sending off fireworks, this one being the main spot.

more popcorn

and mystical fires
The hosts of the AirB&B had a small basket with different little treats, like hot chocolate packets, toothbrushes and toothpaste, etc.  In it they had a packet to add to the fire called mystical fire.  As the fire burned this packet added the colour.
