Day 12 - Whale Watching

California

We were able to leave our camper at the campground while we went and did whale watching before heading on our way. The place was not far away.

I am grateful for as much of the whale pictured here because it was quite difficult to get a good picture of the whale.  One was never quite sure where it would surface...

a morning breakfast treat

more pictures of strawberry picking that we saw on the way to whale watching and I post them because it was so fascinating

yes, it was quite cold and windy and we were grateful for every layer we had on

playful

watching and waiting

A bit of the whale's spray. It was so difficult to catch because it was the first thing it did when it came to the surface. And it was hard to keep track where it was.

This makes me smile because I was trying quite deliberately to 'catch' the spray and didn't think I managed.  Only to realize I did and just a bit of the whale!

Humpback Whale

Once they flipped their back fins up like this, it meant they were going for a deep dive.  We had to wait for 5-10 minutes till it would resurface.

Risso's Dolphin

Dramamine effects...
It affected us all... drowsy, but for Carlin it was especially so. ☺️

This was a stop along the way

From this angle you can't see through the tunnel or see it as a bridge.

another splendour of natural wonder

Succulents that grow as huge bushes or plants that stay small for me.
