Day 14 - Yosemite National Park

Monday, June 26, 2023

California

We had an hour wait to get in to Yosemite since it's the only way in due to the Tioga road closed because of the 10 ft snowdrifts they were still working to remove. They had 224% more snowfall in the winter of 2022-23.

Then the park was also flooded, with all of us people, that had to find a place to park.  It was a frustrating challenge to say the least.

We met Levi's here and went to the Bridal Veil Falls only to find the trailhead closed for construction. So, we decided to go to Half Dome and then at this point, they had the upper part of the park closed because of the congestion.

Another obstacle...  so we decided to go back to Bridal Veil because we had seen people finding another way to get to the falls.  So we started at a different trailhead, through the trees, and we found our way to the main path.
So much power and spray!

Standing in the spray of the Bridal Veil Falls

After this hike we decided to see if the upper part was open and it was.
We wanted to go to Yosemite Falls but no parking space was available.

So Levi's decided to move on towards San Francisco to try and catch the setting sun over the bridge.

We went into the village store gift shop, that was also swarming with people, and then decided to try one more time to find a spot and we did! 👏👏

We did the Lower Yosemite Falls loop and again what a rush of water. That was one of the benefits of all their winter snowfall. On this loop we got to see the Half Dome Rock. It is a beautiful rock.

This park is quite majestic!! The colours and the rush of water and the towering rocks all add up to a majestic space.

Taking pictures of the rushing waters as we creep toward the entrance of the park.

We're finally in the park

handsome though they be...

continuing on and towards our night's stay
and the beauty is on-going

The Golden Chain Hwy and the switchbacks continue...
what you see here... is what you see next...
not sure it was golden, but then again, it may be it depends on what you call golden...
This was the worst highway that we've been on so far for tight, tight switchbacks.

and this is one of the tightest ones we did

dark evening arrival

Carlin ever keeping the shoes in their place and mostly out of his way.  His space was feeling a bit cramped...
