Utah
Today we're heading to Bryce Canyon and we took Rt 14 off of I 15, a scenic route and it was worth it. Gorgeous views. Today we saw muledeer and antelope.
As we were driving and looking for animals, these are some snippets of how the conversation went ---
- There's a horse! (boy you 'bout had me slamming on the brakes!)
- There's a dear! (dead)
- Awww... (when the driver didn't see the first antelope of the trip)
We kept entering and leaving the Dixie National Park. (kept reminding us of Tennessee and wondering if we're in the right place?!? π€π
We then drove another hour to The Grand Staircase/Escalante to hike the Calf Creek Trail to the lower falls. It was 3 miles in and 3 miles back! My legs said, "All done!" ππ
We decided to take Rt.12, the scenic highway, back to our campground driving through Zion National Park, and the two tunnels they have. Boy, the one tunnel was quite a work of art... round this bend and then yet another one, and yet another. We couldn't see the views because it was dark, but it was still worth going through the tunnels. But those switchbacks were quite intense.
It was approximately a 2 hr drive to Bryce from our campground.
Lunch stop at a pizza place in Bryce before going on to the Grand Staircase/Escalante Forest Service
It was quite a hike, 6 miles round trip, but well worth seeing the falls at the end!
By now, my legs say, "All done!!"
Titus' ears are ever tuned to the many sounds in any area of nature. He heard a sound, looked, and saw this muledeer in the weeds beside our trail.
Slip, slip, slide... the rocks were quite slippery and the challenge to get up as far as one could, began.
Meet Majestick
Psalm 8:1
Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the earth!
And I bear witness and am walking among it all.
Lord, You guide me, keep me steady, give me a hand. So, Majestick, is a picture of You.
By the way, if you ever consider a walking stick, go with the urge, it definitely helps a whole heap!!
Grow, where you are...
Plus these little white flowers were my cheerleaders as I had walked many miles today and was quite weary!
After leaving the Grand Staircase we decided to go "home" through Zion and see the tunnels that were on the one end. We knew it would become dark part way through but decided to do it anyway. The one tunnel was quite the tunnel, going on and on and around this corner and the next one.
